How the spirit of Daqing was formed

The spirit of Daqing inherits and carries forward the fine traditions of the Chinese nation, the Chinese Communist Party, the Chinese working class and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

The core of the spirit of Daqing is the spirit of patriotism. At that time, with no experience, no technology, backward equipment and a very difficult country, the Party Central Committee decided to organize the oil war in the form of a war of annihilation by concentrating human, material and financial resources. The Central Military Commission mobilized 30,000 people from the retired soldiers and officers to support the battle; it organized 37 factories, mines and colleges in Yumen, Qinghai, Sichuan and Xinjiang to participate in the oil battle.

The staffs of the war were not concerned with working conditions, working hours, remuneration, position, internal and external, or front and back, but were determined to throw off the backward cap of Chinese oil; to take the big oil fields at high speed and high level; and to catch up with the world advanced level. With this love for the Party and the country, the team produced a total of 11.55 million tons of crude oil in only three years, thus achieving basic self-sufficiency in China’s oil supply and shaking off China’s “oil-poor” cap in one fell swoop, truly winning glory for the country and the nation!

For the sake of the much-needed oil for the motherland, Daqing oil workers fought against the difficulties in the extremely difficult working, production and living conditions, among which the loudest and most immortal name is Wang Jinxi, the Iron Man. Lack of loading and unloading equipment, Wang Jinxi do not wait, do not rely on, do not want to, led the 1205 drilling team to pull the shoulders, the rig 60 tons of human transport to the well site several kilometers away, creating the first miracle of the oil war; minus 20 degrees Celsius, cut out the ice hole, a pot, a bucket end enough to drill more than 50 tons of water; fight for three days and nights, so that 38 meters high 22 tons of derricks stand in the wilderness; Five days and five nights not to “fire”, to Daqing to play the first oil well set a new record for the meeting. Wang Jinxi’s heroic vow of “going on if there are conditions, creating conditions even if there are no conditions” inspired all the workers in the battle, and became the motto of millions of Chinese people who are not afraid of difficulties.

The natural conditions in Songliao region are quite harsh, and the coldest time in winter is -40 degrees Celsius. When oil workers work in the field, mud is poured on their bodies and they are frozen like wearing ice armor, so they have to knock on their bodies with wooden sticks before walking. The workers said: the north wind as a fan, the snow is fried noodles, the South China Sea and North China Sea to the battle, vowed to seize the number one large oil field! No matter what 40 degrees below zero, there was no winter for oil workers! At that time, the workload was getting bigger and bigger, but the food supply was getting smaller and smaller. Due to the long-term lack of nutrition, by the beginning of 1961, there were more than 4,000 people who had swelling disease, accounting for one tenth of the total number of workers in the battle! In order to solve the problem of food, Xue Guifang and five other family members of the war workers took matters into their own hands and opened up the land for cultivation. Led by them, the oil field quickly set off a wave of self-reliance, hard work and entrepreneurship, which strongly guaranteed the smooth production and life of the oil war.

Seeking truth from facts is the essence of the Party’s ideological line. In order to link millions of specific jobs with millions of workers and put them into practice, Daqing Oilfield has established a whole set of job responsibility system and paid close attention to the construction of party branches as the core of grassroots construction, job responsibility system as the center of basic work, and job training as the main content of the basic skills training.

In a large amount of specific and meticulous work, the three mines and four teams of the Oil Production Command gradually developed the good style of “three old and four strict”: to treat the revolutionary cause, to be an honest person, to tell the truth and to do honest work; to do revolutionary work, to have strict requirements, strict organization, serious attitude and strict discipline. The oil production headquarters of the second mine 5-65 well group put forward the specific requirements of “four the same”, that is, the revolutionary work should be done: dark and day one of the same; bad weather and good weather one of the same; the leader is not present and the leader is present one of the same; no one to check and someone to check one of the same. The “three old and four strict” and “four same” were strongly advocated and became the wind in the meeting team. Leading cadres consciously from strict, ask the masses to do, leading cadres first take the lead to do; ask the masses not to do, leading cadres resolutely not to do. Grasp the production from the idea, grasp the idea from the production, close contact with the masses, the in-depth ideological and political work to the drilling tower, the well field, to the life of the majority of workers, the heart.

National revitalization, national prosperity, people’s happiness is the Party’s unremitting pursuit; the supremacy of the motherland, the people’s supremacy, is the firm belief of the oil people; for the country to share the worries, for the motherland to refuel, is the oil people always the same sentiment.

Wang Jinxi, the Iron Man, once said that he would rather live 20 years less than he did to take the big oil field. In fact, he lived more than 20 years less. Of the 36 members of Team 1205 who followed Wang Jinxi to Daqing, 29 died at the age of less than 60, 15 of them at the age of less than 50. Thousands of oil men and women have always fought and fought for oil, and have been completely dedicated to the motherland. In the early 1960s, the country was short of both oil and money. The meeting team proposed that the whole situation should be first, then local; the country first, then individual; production first, then life. The 300,000 square meters of “dry bases” were built with an investment of only 9 million yuan, saving the country more than half a billion dollars.
